What’s So Magic About Malmsteen?

Look – I know people mock Yngwie Malmsteen – but let’s face it – like Jimi, like Eddie, Like Scotty Moore, like Joe Satriani – he really was an innovator – all be it one that hurts your ears sometimes with his rather shrill tone (that some people love – it’s all about personal preference right?) he is a force of nature and guitar!

But seriously – just take a look at some of this rocker’s concerts in the early 80’s and he was blowing away other guitarists with speed and articulation and sheer innovation and he was different – even if you don’t dig the neo-classical sound.

Sure there have been people before – like the slightly arrogant Al Di Meola (sorry but that’s my view – see some of his clips from 78 on YouTube) – at least Yngwie does it with his tongue firmly in cheek – a deduction we can safely make by watching and listening to his fun – sometimes hilarious views and monologues – as Yngwie says – more is always more!
